Probably the most famous of the historical buildings in Wageningen is the Hotel de Wereld (World Hotel) in which the German Axis surrendered to allied forces at the close of World War II on May 5th, 1945. The hotel is joined by many other pubs and outdoor cafés located throughout the city center. In addition to these nightlife amenities, Wageningen also has beautifully maintained nature parks nearby.
